What Is CBD Oil?

As a quick review, Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound that comes from the hemp plant family. Unlike its cousin, THC, it is safe, non-addictive, and legal in most states. CBD has become a very popular item for people to take to help with a variety of ailments. There is quite a list of items that CBD is thought to help with: Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Pain and Inflammation, Anxiety, Depression, and much more. Research is currently ongoing at numerous reputable institutions including the National Institute of Health and the National Institute for Aging.

Who Is Seed Science CBD?

Seed Science CBD is a CBD company based in Seattle, WA. They claim to have the highest quality hemp being organic, non-GMO, and containing no THC, pesticides, or harmful additives. They use the entire hemp plant to extract the full spectrum cannabinoids into their oil using medical grade CO2. They then combine this extract with cold-pressed hemp seed oil. They grow their own proprietary strain of hemp in Colorado that is rich in cannabinoids and terpenes. Since this is not marijuana, it does not contain THC. They make their products in a pharmacist-licensed clinical lab, meaning that they utilize Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to meet federal guidelines similar to prescription medications. Seed Science CBD also ensures their products follow Section 7606 of the 2014 Farm Bill. They use a third-party lab to test for quality and potency. It is tested to confirm there are no pesticides, chemicals, or metals. It is also tested to detect THC and the percentage of cannabinoids present.

What Are the Products?

They currently offer three different types of products: CBD Oils both in bottles and single doses, CBD Gel Caps, and CBD Salves. It looks like they used to make a water-soluble powder to dissolve in drinks and coffee products, however they are not on their website anymore. According to their Instagram, they may have massage oils and pain creams as well, but again this is not on the current website.

1500 mg Full Spectrum Gel Caps

This product is like the one above and consists of two bottles that contain sixty 25 mg gel capsules (1500 mg total) each. Therefore, there is 120 capsules total. They recommend 2 capsules daily or as needed. Their website states that this would be a one-month supply if taken twice daily. This means that each bottle is a two-week supply. However, if you only take 2 capsules daily this would actually be a two-month supply (120 capsules total/2 = 60 days). Therefore, they could mean to take 2 capsules twice a day (or 4 capsules per day) which would make it a one-month supply. They also state that this contains the perfect balance of omega fatty acids.

They also offer free shipping on all orders and they ship anywhere in the USA. They utilize discreet packaging with all orders sent in plain boxes which do not contain branding. Lab Testing

Their website states that they have a third-party lab test their products for potency and quality. However, at the time this article was written the link to the lab results was not working properly. Seed Science was notified of this, so hopefully it is up and running soon. Surely their lab results are verified and appropriate if they make the claims on their website, although it is always a good idea to double check before buying any products.

Customer Reviews

Customer reviews are hard to find for Seed Science CBD. They do not display reviews on their website and trying to search for reviews does not come up with much. However, based off comments on their Instagram posts they seem to have positive customer reviews even though they are limited.

Positive Aspects

Seed Science CBD was ranked one of the “Top 10 CBD Companies of 2018” by Buzzfeed. Their products do not contain any amounts of THC, which is nice for customers worried about drug tests or the potential to get high (even though trace amounts of THC will likely not affect either of these). They also utilize GMP and pharmacists with their products to help assure its quality. Additionally, all their products are full spectrum. The full spectrum products are associated with having an “Entourage Effect”, which means that the different cannabinoids and terpenes work together to have a synergistic effect. The costs of Seed Science products are also similar to some of their competitors. Plus, they offer starter packs for those who do not wish to buy a whole bottle to try out their products.

Negative Aspects

One problem with this brand is that they only use full spectrum, which could be a positive thing for some customers, but others may only prefer the CBD isolate products. Another interesting note is that they only list the dosage in mg of oil and not mg of CBD. However, this is probably due to them using full spectrum oil – which again, depending on the customer could be a pro or a con. Also, those with allergies or sensitivities should be cautious with the salve (see above). Additional potential problems are the scarcity of customer reviews and lack of viewable lab results. Although with more time, these problems will probably be resolved. Lastly, they do not offer a variety of dosages regarding their gel capsules (they are all 25 mg). This could lead to unnecessary pill burden for those who wish to take higher doses.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Seed Science CBD seems to be a reputable CBD brand. They utilize pharmacists to ensure they follow GMP and have quality products. Even though there are fewer customers reviews than other brands, they seem to have a positive customer image and have been featured in respected news sites. Some suggestions for the future could be to offer different dosages of gel capsules so that way customers would not need more pills for a higher dose. Nevertheless, Seed Science is solid option to try out if you are experimenting with CBD products. References:
