CBD Cannabis Oil and Its Health Benefits

Cannabis is an ancient plant native to the Himalayas. It has long been banned both for cultivation and for use because of its psychotropic properties.

However, with time and technological advances, it has been possible to find that this plant contains a component called cannabidiol, also known as CBD.

Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD does not have psychotropic properties, but it does have various medical uses.

Along with these findings, ingesting or inhaling cannabis has been used positively for various conditions that conventional medicine has not been able to treat until now.

These discoveries have driven millions of people around the world to demand the legalization of cannabis, both use and cultivation, for medicinal purposes. This would help many people suffering from certain bodily conditions, such as muscle spasms or seizures.

Today, many families treat various ailments with cannabis oil. Just a drop of this oil is enough to relieve pain, combat insomnia, or eliminate nausea without any psychotropic effects.

Healing properties of CBD cannabis oil

Cannabis oil is obtained from hemp and is composed of more than 100 compounds called cannabinoids, which belong to the terpeno-phenol family.

These compounds act on receptors called endogenous cannabinoids, which are located throughout the body and have various functions.

This suggests that these substances can have positive effects at different levels, thus counteracting many conditions.

One of the confirmed properties of cannabis oil is that it is ideal for treating the side effects of chemotherapy. This is its most popular use, as it reduces nausea and vomiting and stimulates appetite.

According to various studies, cannabis oil is beneficial for the brain because it reduces neuron inflammation and oxidation, in addition to promoting the birth of new nerve cells.

In summary, cannabis oil has the following beneficial properties:

  • Relaxing
  • Analgesic
  • Anxiolytic
  • Antipsychotic
  • Antitumor
  • Antispasmodic
  • Anti-nausea
  • Antiemetic

It is important to note that cannabis oils are not a cure for any of the disorders mentioned above.

This oil is used as a palliative treatment to reduce symptoms when other drugs have been tried and not produced the desired effect.

You should consult with your doctor before taking CBD oil, especially if taken with other medications.

Cannabis oil contraindications

Even though cannabis oil is natural and easily assimilated by the body, in some cases, it may be harmful to one’s health. This is why it is expressly prohibited when a patient has a heart condition, such as heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, or has had a heart attack or angina.

Patients with psychological problems

If a patient must use machinery (heavy or not) or drive, it is recommended to wait for four hours after taking cannabis oil.

Hemp oil

Though it is from the same family as cannabis oil, it is from a different part of the plant. It is also useful for medicinal purposes.

Cannabis oil is obtained from cold pressing the plant’s flowers. Hemp oil comes from using the same process but from the seeds instead of the flowers.

These oils are manufactured from varieties of the Cannabis Sativa plant. It doesn’t have significant amounts of the psychoactive component tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), so the oils aren’t any more addictive than coffee.

Hemp oil, like cannabis oil, has high levels of cannabinoids, so it is used in treating nausea, inflammation, convulsions, spasms, and fighting cancer.

Cannabis legislation

The legalization of marijuana for therapeutic use is an ever-controversial topic. This is despite it being well-known that this plant has numerous beneficial properties for the body and has served many people as an alternative to conventional medicine.

However, it is also true that some variants of marijuana do not have these properties, but they are psychotropic substances used for recreational purposes.

Until recently, cannabis was (legally) available in some countries strictly for producing non-psychoactive elements, such as fiber and seeds.

However, the difficulty of controlling drug trafficking with prohibitionist state policies (which often only encourages its consumption) has led many to petition for a change in regulatory policies.

In recent years, many countries have legalized and regulated cannabis for medical use, including Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina, and Uruguay.

In Uruguay, it was not only legalized for medicinal purposes but also recreational purposes, like the Netherlands.

In the United States, only a few states allow recreational marijuana use. One of these is Washington state, where each person is allowed up to six cannabis plants and 56 grams. Of course, it must be consumed in private.

Canada is another country that allows marijuana consumption. Since October 17, 2018, the consumption and production of the plant are completely legal.

In Central America, specifically in Costa Rica, the consumption, planting, and possession of marijuana are completely legal as long as some limits are observed. Consumption should not be done in public spaces, and the amount in one’s possession shouldn’t be very large.

In Spain, cannabis use is under review due to recent discoveries and its potential use for therapeutic purposes.
